1. thisisamy said: Garbage bags (and garbage can), lysol wipes, and paper towels. It’s the worst when you start unpacking or cleaning and have no where to put the trash!
2. dontcallmechauncy said: A can opener. You probably already have one but I was leaving my mom’s so I didn’t and forgot all about it until I needed to open something while cooking.

10. carry-onbaggage said: hahaha cleaning my old apartment. really. and defrosting my freezer?? yuck. i had to do it during a miserable lunch hour. i also packed the batteries for my small vacuum & swiffer & turned up like a crazy person at walgreens at 2 am to get some.
11. cynicismandspunk said: It’s been said, but the overnight bag. Fill it with a few days’ worth of everything and tp and all your necessities. That way if you get carried away with setting things up and don’t have time to unpack the boxes, at least you have access to those.
12. jenniferaross said: I forwarded my mail like two weeks after I moved (eek!) and underestimated the # of boxes and tape I needed. I was happy that I labeled ALL my boxes- what was in it & what room it would go in.
13. chatter said: Take a duffel bag with overnight clothes, a couple towels, your makeup, hairbrush, etc. Move it in your personal car and treat it like you are going out of town for a few days. That bag will be your lifesaver!

19. definitelyjennifer said: i can never say just one thing: change mailing address on everything (reward cards, frequent fliers, car registration, city tax office, etc.), get new trash/recycling pickup info, nearby takeout/delivery menus!

21. phillyfilly said: keep cleaning supplies in a handy, easily opened box. (keep scissors or knife out too). paper towels, garbage bags, toilet paper etc.—things you’ll need as soon as you get there. also anything that goes UNDER stuff—rug pads, shelf liner. good luck!

26. overflowing said: I was renting, so clean inside the microwave. Remembered the fridge. Of course they charged me for it. And I forgot my camera battery charger. Always a charger of some sort!
27. happinesshighlights said: swiffer wet jet, lysol wipes, and a drill (although i shouldn’t be trusted with power tools). the drill was a MUST have bc we had shelves/mirrors sitting on the floor for weeks!
